A Slingshot

It’s inevitable. You will be disappointed at some point in your life. You will fall on hard times, you will experience hurt and loss and you will be let down. This is unavoidable, certainly for the most part.

Life isn’t always fair, some will experience more hardships, more obstacles, more setbacks than others. Why? Is it because they are being punished for something they did when they were eighteen? Because they broke somebody’s heart? Or perhaps they didn’t keep to their word?

-no.

It’s because we are given what we can handle. Even in the depths of our lows when we feel like we are suffocating in sinking sand screaming why me? It’s because you can handle it. Even if you think you can’t you can. Change will come, you’ve just got to get to the other side. Yes, that’s harder than it sounds but there is the other side.

Pain is not permanent, pain won’t last a lifetime, eventually it will pass and something else will take its place. Pain will change you, a person can only grow in a specific way during times of struggle and hardship- so embrace that pain, get something out of it- have the last laugh.

You can’t control what is going to happen to you in life but you can control how you’re going to deal with it. Going through tough times gives you the fire in your belly to keep pushing through, keep going. It’s human nature to feel a grudge, why me? What not them or him or her? Don’t resent your pain, grow from it- be one step ahead.

Forest Gump said his Mama said “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.”

This mama says, life is like a slingshot, the more you get pulled back, the further you’re gonna go.

Fight back. Keep going. Don’t stop. You’ve got this.

  1. “life is like a slingshot.” I love that. Sometimes life is painful, and sometimes it seems there is no end in sight. “Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.”
